Pink Tigress #1 is an original pink abstract painting by Pittsburgh artist Scott Kowalski, created in acrylic on canvas. Bold pink color, layered texture, and expressive marks give the painting a playful energy at first glance, while something more instinctive and forceful begins to emerge underneath.

I work primarily with acrylic and palette knives, building paintings through layers rather than following a predetermined image. With Pink Tigress, the forms developed through that process of adding, scraping, covering, and responding to what was happening on the canvas.

From across a room, the color and movement hit first. Up close, smaller marks, textures, and relationships begin to emerge. That balance between immediate impact and slower discovery is something I continually return to in my work.
