About Where the Wild Things Bloom

Where the Wild Things Bloom is a one-of-a-kind acrylic painting on canvas created in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and presented in a gold frame. It reflects my ongoing interest in the space between structure and spontaneity, beauty and disorder, and the moment when something carefully built begins to feel wild.

I built the piece through layers rather than working toward a fixed image. Teal and gold began to push against one another, while floral shapes started to emerge and disappear across the surface. Some areas feel deliberate and structured, while others were allowed to stay loose, imperfect, and instinctive.

That tension is what gives the painting its energy. From a distance, the color and overall movement take over first. Up close, smaller marks, changes in texture, and fragments of floral forms become more noticeable.

As an original teal and gold abstract painting, Where the Wild Things Bloom is meant to feel alive rather than perfectly controlled. The 48 × 36 inch scale gives the piece a strong physical presence, making it large enough to anchor a room while still allowing the details and layered surface to reward closer viewing.
